A Post Leaving Certificate course (PLC) is a recognised preparatory route both to employment and to further education. PLC courses are suitable for students who need further education and training to enhance their chances of gaining employment. They help students to develop the skills needed for specific occupations. They also provide an alternative route to higher education in Institutes of Technology and other colleges.
A PLC course can be an excellent foundation year for those postponing entry to University. It should also be considered as a serious alternative to repeating the Leaving Certificate. Mature students who do not meet the normal academic requirements may be admitted to a course on the basis of their experience and motivation.
FETAC Awards provide for progression and transfer of students to Universities and Institutes of Technology. Details of the linked courses are available in the FETAC Links Guide and CAO Website. When applying for a linked course through the CAO system - the FETAC Award results may be used in place of Leaving Certificate points.
Currently we are running a PLC course in Early Childhood Care. Follow the link below to view our brochure.
