About Us

Welcome to our School Website

Welcome to the St. Oliver Post Primary School website. It is my pleasure to introduce you to our school. Our website offers you the opportunity to find out about life in our vibrant school – ethos, subjects, extra –curricular activities, what’s on and much more.

We are committed to academic excellence and we pride ourselves on a strong tradition of excellence in education as many of our past pupils have entered the fields of actuary, medicine, physiotherapy, law and psychology to name just a few. Our teachers are renowned for their teaching skills, enthusiasm and dedication to their students in our school. This enables all students the opportunity to achieve their potential.

Our school has a caring atmosphere in which each student is looked after. We have a very strong pastoral element and the mental wellbeing of students is always a priority. We have worked in partnership with Jigsaw Meath, in developing a peer mentor programme with each year group in mind. We offer many student supports with the Friends for Life Programme being our most recent addition. This creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence among students, parents, community and staff which enhances self -esteem and confidence.

Extra-curricular activities are a significant part of our school life. From computer coding to Gaelic football, debating to basketball: we try to offer students opportunities to enrich their education. Student voice is an important aspect of this; senior prefects, peer mentors, captain and vice captains, digital leaders, environmental committee, student council are all important avenues for student involvement.

We are privileged to be under the auspices of Louth Meath Education & Training Board (LMETB). Our school has all the innovative support; with two computer rooms, a computerised library, a computer and multimedia projector in each classroom, required for learning in the 21st century. Because of our growing numbers, we have recently added a new 4 room practical extension which provides us with another Science lab, another Home Economics, a Music room and another Woodwork room.  Also, opened recently is our Special Needs Unit ‘An Grianán’ (Sunny Place) which is the hub for all our support work with our students.  In terms of sporting facilities, we have in recent times, finished a new astro-turf pitch facility and running track for athletics.

Take time to browse through our new website and feel free to contact us with any comments, suggestions or questions.
