Uniform Review:
- Our school’s uniform has been reviewed with parents/guardians, staff, students and BOM in 2023-2024.
- We are proud to have a uniform which identifies and distinguishes our students and we believe that wearing the school uniform has many benefits for families and for the school. It is understood that students choosing to enrol in the school accept that the full school uniform must be worn during the school day, and to and from the school. Parents/guardians are asked to show support by cooperating fully with the school in ensuring that students wear full uniform.
- Following on from this review, the information will clarify for you the requirements, in relation to school uniform, in St Oliver Post Primary School for the forthcoming school year, 2024-25 and beyond.
- From the beginning of the new school year the schools Code of Behaviour will be strictly implemented where students wear non-uniform items to school.
Compulsory school uniform items:
- Maroon v-neck jumper with school crest
- Charcoal grey shirt / blouse
- Maroon Tartan skirt (worn below the knee) with black socks or black opaque tights (50 denier upwards)
- Dark grey (charcoal) trousers
- Plain black footwear with black soles. Runners with clear gel like or coloured (other than plain black) soles are not permitted.
- Navy jacket with school crest is compulsory for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
- While not compulsory for senior pupils, we strongly recommend that pupils purchase a school jacket.
Optional extra uniform items:
- Green v-neck jumper with school crest for Senior Prefects only
PE Uniform items:
- Tops: Sports t-shirts (synthetics like polyester or lightweight cotton are ideal)
- Bottoms: Sports shorts (GAA style) or comfortable track suit bottoms. Avoid restrictive materials.
- Footwear: Supportive running trainers. Shoes must be securely tied; slip-ons, Crocs, platform shoes, or boots are not permitted.
- Layering: For outdoor classes in cooler weather, pack a lightweight hoodie, sweatshirt, or tracksuit jacket.
- Other crested hoodies/sports tops/t-shirts which are purchased during as part of school teams, school trips, TY etc, can be worn.
Notes:
- During colder months, pupils may add thermal layers under their uniform should they wish to do so. This combined with the school jacket should be adequate.
- Please note that any other crested hoodies/sports tops/t-shirts which are purchased during as part of school teams, school trips, TY etc are not official school uniform items and therefore are not permitted to be worn as school uniform.
- We strongly advise that all uniform items are clearly identified with embroidered initials to help the return of such items to their owners.
McDermott’s Drapery:
- All uniform items are available from McDermott’s Drapery, Oldcastle.
Acknowledgement:
- We acknowledge and thank all our students who wear their uniform fully and proudly every day.
- We hope that this clarity about what is expected of students, in terms of their uniform.
