Tests

This year we will be administering 2 tests.

  1. CAT4 tests with all pupils, and
  2. A simple Irish exercise with those pupils who study Irish.

There will NOT be any separate assessment of English, Maths, Spelling etc.

As is always the case, there is no pass or fail with these tests. The aim is that we get a good sense of your child’s ability across the board, in order for us to organise our 1st year class groups in to 4 mixed ability groups.

CAT4 Tests

CAT4 tests are completed online on a PC while in our school.

CAT4 tests are not a test of learnt knowledge but rather of a child’s ability. As such, a child can’t prep or revise for a CAT4 test.

Irish Exemptions

Those pupils who do not study Irish, need to have an officially sanctioned exemption to provide justification for their exemption from this subject.
