Our school’s uniform has been reviewed with parents/guardians, staff, students and BOM this year, 2023-2024.
We are proud to have a uniform which identifies and distinguishes our students and we believe that wearing the school uniform has many benefits for families and for the school. It is understood that students choosing to enrol in the school accept that the full school uniform must be worn during the school day, and to and from the school. Parents/guardians are asked to show support by cooperating fully with the school in ensuring that students wear full uniform.
Following on from this review, the information will clarify for you the requirements, in relation to school uniform, in St Oliver Post Primary School for the forthcoming school year, 2024-25.
From the beginning of the new school year the schools Code of Behaviour will be strictly implemented where students wear non-uniform items to school.
Pupils in 2nd – 6th year, should continue to wear the school uniform they have.
The only exception to this is the school skirt.
Any pupil who wants to wear the school skirt must purchase the new skirt (below the knee) unless their current skirt length is to the knee.
All pupils wearing skirts must pair them with black socks or black opague tights (50 denier upwards).
When/If new items of uniform need to be purchased, then please purchase items according to the uniform description below.
For students starting in 1st year, the school uniform is as below.
Compulsory school uniform items:
Maroon v-neck jumper with school crest
Charcoal grey shirt / blouse
Maroon Tartan skirt (worn below the knee) with black socks or black opague tights (50 denier upwards)
Dark grey (charcoal) trousers
Plain black footwear with black soles. Runners with clear gel like or coloured (other than plain black) soles are not permitted.
Optional extra uniform items:
Navy jacket with school crest
Other non-uniform coats/hoodies are not permitted.
While not compulsory, we strongly recommend that pupils purchase a school jacket.
Green v-neck jumper with school crest for Senior Prefects only
Compulsory PE Uniform items:
School Quarter-zip sports top with school crest (available in local retailers)
A white or Navy polo-shirt
White or Navy shorts
Plain Navy school tracksuit bottoms.
Appropriate sports footwear must be worn as part of the PE uniform.
Notes:
During colder months, pupils may add thermal layers under their uniform should they wish to do so. This combined with the school jacket should be adequate.
If a pupil is still cold, the School’s PE Navy Quarter-Zip can also be worn under the school jacket.
Please note that any other crested hoodies/sports tops/t-shirts which are purchased during as part of school teams, school trips, TY etc are not official school uniform items and therefore are not permitted to be worn as school uniform.
We strongly advise that all uniform items are clearly identified with embroidered initials to help the return of such items to their owners.
McDermott’s Drapery:
All uniform items are available from McDermott’s Drapery, Oldcastle.
Acknowledgement:
We acknowledge and thank all our students who wear their uniform fully and proudly every day.
We hope that this clarity about what is expected of students, in terms of their uniform.
